Access Statement For Quality Bed and Breakfast

 

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based 1 bedroom bed and breakfast, except people with severe mobility problems. Our premises are unsuitable for anyone with a mobility disability because of the many steps and stairs. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

 

Pre-Arrival
 
There is a bus stop outside our front door with a regular, but non-frequent,

  bus service to Stroud (no service on Sunday).

• Stroud train station is 10 minutes away by car, with services to London 

   Paddington, the Midlands and the West Country. 

There are several local taxi services, if required, and we can make a booking

  for you.

• Brochures and menus can be provided in large print

• We have a comprehensive website

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
 
• No marked parking bays; there is room for one car

• We can assist guests with luggage

• The shop, PO and PH are a few minutes walk from the Bed and Breakfast.

 

Main Entrance & Reception

• Entrance is through a small wooden gate down 2 steps 15cm (6”) up 1 step up 20cm

  (8”) to landing;
• The kitchen door has one step 18cm (7”) high. 

• The kitchen door is locked after 10:30 at night.

• Entry into our home is through the kitchen

• There is wooden flooring in the kitchen; carpet in the lounge & on the stairs

 

General (Internal)

• One step into lounge 18cm (7”)

• The covering on stairs and upstairs landing is short pile carpet

• The breakfast room is on the ground floor down 2 steps 15cm (6”).

• There are 12 stairs to a landing, kites & winders varying in width & depth, followed by a

   further 2 stairs to the bedroom.

• The stairs are 20cm (8”) high

 

Bathroom/Shower room

 

• Bedroom is next door to the private bathroom, down 2 steps 18cm (7”)

 

Dining Room Bar & Lounges

• Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor.  There are 2 steps 15cm

  (6”)

• Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.

• The double pedestal table 91.5cm (36”) wide, height of 74cm (29”) and length 152.5cm

  (60”). There is one leather carver chair and 6 upholstered dining chairs, which can be

   moved to accommodate.

• Menu can be provided in large print is required

 

Laundry
• Available at a cost

 

Bedroom
 
• There is 1 bedroom, which is on the first floor.

• There are 12 stairs to a landing followed by a further 2 stairs to the first floor bedroom.

• The stairs are 20cm (8”) high, kites and winders of varying widths and depths

• Bedroom door width - 79cm (31”) bathroom door width  – 72cm (28”)

• At least 76cm (30”) routes within the bedroom e.g. to the side of beds,

• Furniture is moveable on request

• Television with remote control

• Double bed - 46cm (18”) high, 140cm (55”) width, length - 196cm (77”)

• Three upright chair (no arms) are provided in the room

• There is a bath and shower room (see details below) next door

• Fitted short pile carpet on the floor

 

Private Bathroom, Shower-room & WC

 

• Door width 72cm (28”) wide opening inwards.

• Shower cubicle edge/step is 20.5cm (8.5”) high.

• Free floor space 110cm (43”) x 130cm (51”)

• Basin is rounded rope edged at front and is wall hung - 81cm (32”) high

• Toilet is 43cm (17”) high

• Large corner bath with Jacuzzi with shower attachment

• Fully tiled walls and floor; gold fittings.

 

Grounds and Gardens


• We have an enclosed garden (flower borders and lawns) for residents which is

  available to sit in (chairs and bench available)

• There are many public footpaths with in easy reach of the B&B, including the tow path

  along the canal

 

Additional Information
 

• Mobile phone reception is generally good

• We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation. If you require

  more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are

  evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment.

• We are a non smoking premises

• We supply a tray with coffee and tea (herbal teas on request) and fresh milk
